We Are Citizens
We recognize that due to current legislation and management practices, our forests are in crisis and as a result there are dire consequences to the humans, eco-systems, and wildlife of our region.

We recognize that the situation is urgent and are working quickly to restore the delicate ecological balance that sustains life. We are strategic and prepared, combining practical expert research with community action.

We formed in February 2019 through the leadership of a victim of the 2018 Grand Forks flood. We have a 9 member Board of Directors and 50+ active members with diverse backgrounds including retired government employees, retired loggers, citizen’s advocates, environmental activists, farmers, flood victims, and others who share a love of our forests.
Our Vision
-
A healthy natural environment in the Boundary supported by ecosystems that are able to perpetuate their natural functions, compositions, and structures.
-
Citizen-involved, ecologically-managed forests that support the local economy.
-
By 2021, citizens of the Boundary region will have their forests stewarded solely using principles of restoration forestry, that, in turn support an ecologically sound and vibrant watershed.
-
Forestry legislation that reflects the highest standard of care and directs a duty of long-term stewardship for all forest values.
-
A citizens’ commission with regional representation actively participating in all decisions regarding the stewardship of our forests and watershed, and monitoring of this as a public sector function.
-
Individuals, families, and communities have the security and safety of a rich, resilient, and healthy natural environment that offers opportunities for sustainable economic, social, cultural, and recreational activities within the Boundary watershed and beyond.
Our Values
To achieve our Vision, we are committed to the following guiding values:
-
Priority concern that communities within the Boundary are economically sustainable and ecologically resilient and healthy now and into the future.
-
Collaborative and co-operative engagement with stakeholders for setting priorities and implementing solutions.
-
Commitment to courageous and principled activities.
-
Developing mutually beneficial and harmonious partnerships with community, business, education, government, media, and other community-based organizations in the design and delivery of our priority initiatives.
